Finding the Time for Fitness

Lifestyle - by Tilton Fitness

I bet two hands wouldn't be enough to count the number of times you have thought, "there just aren't enough hours in a day."

I know I feel that way regularly. We have early morning wake-ups, getting the kids ready for school, going to work (either away from or in the home), picking the kids up from school, the mountain of after-school activities, dinner, baths, and bedtime.

I know, as a mom, this only scratches the surface of all we need to accomplish in a day, every day. The list of need-to-dos doesn't even include time for our shower, picking up the house, and that other outrageous necessity that we call sleep.

We all hear about that phenomenon of "self-care" and "doing things for yourself," ideas that sound great in theory, but how often does it happen? Do we take the time to do something to benefit ourselves? I can confidently say for every single mother reading this piece, not nearly enough.

We all think that exercising and working that into our day is not a must or, in most cases, not even possible. We believe we are selfish for being away from our families to do something that only benefits us. I am here to tell you that you deserve to be selfish every once and a while. Regular exercise can be and should be a necessity in your life, and I am going to tell you why and how to do it.

I know you are tired; we all are. Most days, we are running on coffee fumes and 4-6 hours of sleep. The first reason to incorporate exercise into your routine is it will give you a boost in energy! When we exercise, our brains release these magical hormones called endorphins. Endorphins will provide you with more of an energy boost than any cup of coffee or energy drink ever will and, even better, no crash. At Tilton Fitness in Hazlet NJ, we have so many options for exercise that will give you that energized feeling. We have options that will prevent boredom and keep you coming back for more.

As parents, we constantly think, "how can I set a good example for my child?" How do we help them grow up to be kind, smart, and generous human beings? We are never going to be perfect, but teaching your children the value of exercise and living a healthy lifestyle is a good start. If you take the time to incorporate regular exercise into your weekly routine and talk to your children about it, they will want to do it too!

Tilton Fitness not only has options for adults, but we want to get your kids involved too! We have free childcare included in all of our membership options, where your kids will have a blast. At the same time, you exercise your butt off (literally and figuratively), and we also offer swim lessons and kids fitness classes to get your children moving, too!

The big question is: How do we find the time to fit exercise into our hectic daily routines? First, moms tend to go about exercise in the wrong way. Most people think that for exercise even to be worth it, that we need to exercise five days a week for a minimum of an hour. Thinking about it that way makes it seem impossible. I am telling you, this does not have to be the case! If you can do 30-60 minutes of exercise 3-4 days a week, it will make a difference! You will feel better, have more energy, and maybe even go down a size in those mom jeans. Tilton Fitness in Hazlet understands all of this, and that is why we offer a ton of 30-minute Group Fitness classes and 30-minute Personal Training sessions.

To sum this up, exercise is worth fitting into your routine. You deserve to feel and look your best for you and your children. It is possible, and it is necessary.

Stop by Tilton Fitness in Hazlet to see me, and we can talk about all of the frustrating and amazing things about being a mother, and how we can help you make a happy and healthy lifestyle your new normal.
